Winter Arts Series Auditions
Throughout the year, area residents are invited to audition for
productions. In addition to the Guild productions, we also work with area
groups to present programs which present opportunities for community members to
become involved as actors and technical staff.
If you would like audition information on these productions, please
call the Guild at (219) 874-4269 for further information on dates
and opportunities.
Canterbury Summer Theatre Auditions
The 2008 season will mark the 40th for summer theatre productions under
the sponsorship of the Festival Players Guild, a not-for-profit Indiana
corporation. The Resident Company is a non-Equity group of approximately
12 male and female actors--as well as a production staff comprised of
designers, choreographers, musical director, technical director, costumer,
stage manager, and additional support personnel. Returning for his 23rd
year as Artistic Director is Ray Scott Crawford.
Auditions will be conducted at the Illinois Theatre Auditions, as well
as in Michigan City at the Mainstreet Theatre on Sunday, March 16th (5:00
P.M-7:30 P.M.), and in Chicago, at the Sheil Park Building (3505 N. Southport
Ave) from 3:00 P.M-9:00 P.M.on Monday, March 17th. For the Chicago auditions,
please e-mail Ray Scott Crawford at RayscottC@aol.com, with resume and
photo attached, to schedule an appointment, and actors should prepare
a short (60-90 seconds) comic monologue, as well as two contrasting musical
selections (bring sheet music in the appropriate key). For Michigan City,
prepare a short song and monologue. We require a photograph and resume
for all auditions. If you are unable to attend any of the scheduled sessions,
please send your photo, resume, and a VHS tape (or DVD) following the
above criteria to:
Ray Scott Crawford
817 Lark Avenue
Shreveport, LA 71105
(Any and all submissions are non-returnable)
Please do not send any audition information (resumes, photos, etc.) to
the e-mail link on this site. Any downloadable attachments will be permanently
deleted!
Why consider Canterbury & The Festival Players Guild?
With its 39 year history, the Canterbury Summer Theatre has an established
record of quality and success. Among Canterbury alumni are current television
stars and Tony Award(TM) nominees and winners. In addition, our proximity
to Chicago and the fact that many company members (both current and former)
are active in the Chicago area as actors, directors, writers, and producers,
can be advantageous to those wanting to become established in the theatre
community there. Furthermore, if you are looking to play a variety of
roles and expand your resume, our season of productions will offer you
that opportunity.
Thank you for your interest in the Canterbury Summer Theatre Resident
Company!
